Abstract. This article discusses modern migration processes in the countries of the Greater Mediterranean. The analyzed data on the existing problem of modern migration concern both the countries of Europe and the countries of North Africa, the Near Abroad and other countries of the Greater Mediterranean. The main problem of modern migration also remains poverty, the social disadvantage of countries, the economic crisis, which entails a number of consequences, including the growth of illegal migration to neighboring countries.
Methods for solving this problem include a number of political decisions to improve the lives of socially vulnerable segments of the population, improve the level of education, and modernize a number of social services by the state. Countries that most often receive illegal migrants also make an integral contribution in the framework of humanitarian assistance to countries affected by the consequences of the global crisis (COVID-19).
