The relevance of the development of methods of socio-economic development of the regions of Russia is due to the need to develop the most effective ways to ensure the economic security of the state in modern market conditions. The high differentiation of the development of the country's regions observed in recent years is due to a number of social, economic and political factors. At the same time, this trend of regional development significantly reduces the economic security of the country as a whole, since there is an increase in population migration to regions with a more favorable standard of living, which in turn leads to an even greater increase in differentiation and the observed poverty in many regions of the country. The article offers a method for calculating the level of economic security of the region on the example of the Astrakhan region by ranking indicators. The calculation carried out on the basis of this method gives grounds for determining the methods of development of individual aspects of society, including social, economic, political, in order to increase the security of the region.
