MODERN TRENDS OF PROJECT MANAGEMENT THROUGH THE PRISM OF PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS OF THE "NEW WAVE"

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify and describe trends in the transformation of project management through the analysis of professional standards. Research objectives: highlight the features of the development of the main "waves" of professional project management standards; determine the prerequisites for the development of a new "wave" of professional standards; identification and analysis of common features inherent in the professional standards of the "new wave". The information base of this study was the international professional standards of project management. The main research method is the contextual analysis of the texts of the standards. The article defines the trends of professional project management, which identified based on the analysis of texts of professional standards. These include a statement of the plurality of approaches to project management, refusal to describe processes in favor of describing key principles and management practices, the growth of the importance of the project environment, the increase in the influence and responsibility of the project manager, the growth of the importance of high-level (strategic) project management. Examples from professional standards texts support each characteristic. The conclusion summarizes the strengths and weaknesses of the considered professional project management standards.
