The article deals with the issue of ensuring the technological sovereignty of the Russian Federation under sanctions pressure using the potential of a new industrial region. The existing approaches have been analyzed, as well as the necessary data for selecting the priorities for the development of the industrial region has been collected. The main goal of the study is to develop a scientific and methodological approach to defining the priorities for the development of the industrial region’s economy, which ensures technological sovereignty with the ongoing policy of import substitution. The methodological field of the issue of applying the suggested scientific and methodological approach to defining the priorities for the development of the industrial region’s economy is described. It passed the approbation, which made it possible to divide the goods produced in the Russian Federation into 4 groups and to define the production of which goods among them can be chosen as a priority for the development of the Donetsk People's Republic.
