The article considers the issue of quantitative assessment of the innovative activity of enterprises in the metallurgical industry. Innovative development is directly related to the assessment of such categories as innovative potential, innovative infrastructure and investment potential. The analysis of these categories must be carried out taking into account a certain system of indicators defined for quantitative assessment. That is, there is an assessment of resource capabilities to solve the tasks that need to be solved after the formation of key problems of the enterprise's development. Innovative activity is characterized by the effective use of enterprise resources and methodological tools for evaluating the effectiveness of their use. The assessment of innovation activity is an initial stage in the construction of an effective innovation strategy for the development of enterprises in the mining and metallurgical industry. At the same time, the economic component of the company's functioning will be the key focus. The assessment of innovation activity is related to the performance indicators of the enterprise in the formation of strategic directions of development at the present stage.
