ANALYSIS OF INVESTMENT ACTIVITIES IN THE BORDER REGION

Abstract

The paper analyzes investment activity in the border region - Kursk Oblast. It was found that investments in fixed assets of the region show positive growth dynamics. The COVID-19 pandemic and the strengthening of sanctions with the beginning of a special military operation had a negative impact on the dynamics of investments. Investments in all types of fixed assets show growth, with the exception of residential buildings and premises. This situation allows us to positively assess the investment process in the border region, since it is aimed at modernizing and expanding production. This conclusion is confirmed by the assessment of the investment structure, according to which almost all investment funds are directed to buildings, structures, machinery and equipment. The remaining elements of fixed capital are invested in the minimum required amount. It was determined that the role of a foreign investor and foreign investment projects has decreased to almost zero. The decline in the importance of foreign investment capital began during the pandemic, and since the beginning of the special military operation, foreign investors have almost completely refused to participate in investment projects in Russia and, in particular, the Kursk Oblast. Investment projects are based on fixed assets of private and public corporate forms. The overall result of the study is the conclusion that despite the unfavorable influence of external factors, the investment process in the Kursk region is at a high level, and the region itself is characterized by a fairly high investment attractiveness. The main investment resources in the region, after the departure of foreign investors, are concentrated in private hands, and they are already being used in the modernization and expansion of production.
