INNOVATIVE DEVELOPMENT OF THE RUSSIAN AGRICULTURAL INDUSTRY AS THE BASIS OF THE IMPORT SAVING STRATEGY

Abstract

The article substantiates the need for the transition of domestic agriculture from an im-port substitution strategy with an export orientation to an energy saving strategy, which involves the introduction of technologies, the creation of varieties of agricultural crops and animal breeds, which have no analogues in other countries and which in this regard will be in demand in the global intel-lectual market. To achieve this goal, the agricultural science of the Russian Federation is developing breakthrough technologies in crop production and animal husbandry, creating new varieties with un-usual properties. The author gives an example of the most creative developments of Russian scien-tists, which are already in demand in various countries of the world. Based on the analysis of a large volume of statistical information in long-term dynamics and in the regional context, the author con-cludes that the innovative activity of the Russian economy in general and the agricultural sector in particular is very low. According to this indicator, Russia is at the end of the fifth ten among 132 countries. The author joins the opinion of Russia's leading economists that the reason for the current situation is the very low level of funding for domestic science and innovative developments due to the lack of state interest. In conclusion, the article provides the main directions for getting out of this unfavorable situation.
