Unemployment is a complex and multifaceted phenomenon that requires an integrated approach to understand and solve it. This article discusses the concepts that characterize the labor market, one of which is "unemployment." To reveal the research topic, we examined the types of unemployment, reflected the unemployment rate in Russia and the Orel region, and also paid attention to the problems of its occurrence. Labor market regulation is an important component of the country. Solving the problem of unemployment not only improves the quality of life of citizens, but also contributes to the overall economic development of the country.
