DECORATIVE AND APPLIED ART AS A MEANS OF DEVELOPING CREATIVE ABILITIES OF SCHOOLCHILDREN

Abstract

The article examines the problem of developing creative abilities of schoolchildren by means of decorative and applied art. A theoretical analysis of the concept of "creative abilities" from the standpoint of various scientific approaches is presented. The pedagogical potential of decorative and applied art in the development of figurative and verbal creativity, coordination of movements and spatial thinking of students is revealed. The results of an experimental study conducted on the basis of a general education school with the participation of 40 second-grade students are described. The article presents diagnostic data on the E. Torrance figural test, the "Cut out the figure" test by N.I. Ozeretsky, and the game test "Three words" by L.Yu. Subbotina, indicating the positive impact of decorative and applied art classes on the development of creative abilities of schoolchildren. The pedagogical conditions for the effective use of decorative and applied art in the educational process are determined. Methods for developing the creative abilities of schoolchildren in the process of decorative and applied art classes are substantiated.
