PRIVATE SPACE SERVICES AS A FACTOR OF COMPREHENSIVE REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT: A THEORETICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL MODEL FOR THE FAR EASTERN FEDERAL DISTRICT

Abstract

The article presents a theoretical and methodological model that reveals the impact of private space services on the comprehensive socio-economic development of the Far Eastern Federal District (FEFD). The mechanisms are explained through which satellite communications, navigation, Earth remote sensing and other commercial space technologies can act as drivers of growth, overcoming infrastructural constraints, aiding environmental monitoring, and optimizing logistics in this remote macro-region. The analysis covers external effects (environmental, social), agglomeration effects (cluster formation and investment attraction), informational multipliers (cross-sector data diffusion), and sectoral structural shifts arising from the introduction of space services. Empirical examples of the application of satellite technologies in the FEFD are considered — from monitoring marine bioresources and the Northern Sea Route to remote oversight of resource extraction and agriculture — along with international parallels confirming the economic efficiency of space solutions. Special emphasis is placed on the relevance of the private space sector as a new factor of regional development. The necessity is substantiated for developing institutional conditions, infrastructure, and partnerships to fully realize the potential of space services for accelerating the development of the FEFD.
