METHODOLOGY FOR ASSESSING THE DIFFERENTIATION OF MACROREGION SUBJECTS BY THE LEVEL OF REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT BASED ON LOCAL POTENTIALS

The article examines the theoretical and methodological aspects of assessing differences in the level of socio-economic development of the subjects of the macroregion. Based on the analysis of existing scientific approaches, the content of the category "regional differentiation" is clarified, as well as the main methods for assessing regional development are considered, which makes it possible to identify their limitations and identify areas for their improvement. The author's approach to assessment is proposed, based on a system of statistical indicators reflecting the local potentials of territories. The assessment structure includes key components characterizing the economic condition, investment attractiveness, labor resources, infrastructure provision and innovation activity of the regions. To obtain a generalizing characteristic, the calculation of the integral indicator using the triangulation method is used, which takes into account the multidimensionality and heterogeneity of the initial data. A mechanism for classifying the subjects of a macroregion by levels of development has been developed. It is based on a quantile approach, which makes it possible to form groups of regions with comparable integral index values and identify the degree of their heterogeneity.
