This article presents a comprehensive analysis of the implementation of the green business concept in the banking sector of the Western Balkan countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Montenegro). Based on empirical data from six scientific studies (2019–2025), the article examines the impact of banking performance on renewable energy consumption, the effectiveness of targeted credit lines, the role of green loans in bank profitability, employee perceptions of ESG (environmental social governance) practices, and the use of innovative tools. Panel regression, case study analysis, cluster analysis, and macro data regression analysis are used. The results demonstrate fragmented but rapidly developing nature of green banking in the region, as well as its high effectiveness for the real economy and the existence of systemic barriers. Conclusions and recommendations for the integration of Balkan banks into the pan-European sustainable finance system are formulated.
